My intention was to explore spatial qualities of a specific enviroment by looking at the architectural elements within the room that I had been allocated for my final show. To created site-specific work that attempts to create a connective narrative relationship between the room, work attached to the walls and hand held manuals that explores this concept.

The elements of architecture – columns, beams, arches, walls, apertures, Vaults, and slabs – are comparable to a vocabulary, which can be combined together in an infinite variety of patterns according to practical requirements and emotional needs.
Auguste Perret, Structural Engineer

It’s interesting to discover that the term ‘space’ did not exist in the architect’s vocabulary before 1890.
Its adoption is intimately connected with the development of modernism.
Adrian Forty, Professor of Architectural History
This development of the use of the term space originates in Germany where the word for space is Raum (room)
